上路式トラス鉄橋は桁下の空間が広い場所に設置される橋梁です。

線路がトラスの上にあるため枕木方向の補強をトラス内に作ることができるため下路式のトラス鉄橋より強度が高く、また橋脚の高さを低くできるメリットがあります。
